A 300-piece Pez collection sold for $31,278.50 and a 1950s Pez coin operated dispenser sold for $4,347.72 at a recent auction. But the Pez were not sold on eBay, which founder Pierre Omidyar created to help his Pez-collecting wife, according to eBay legend. The big bucks went instead to Lelands.com, an auction house specializing in sports collectibles and Americana.

Six pieces of memorabilia from four unique American icons - Andy Warhol, President John F. Kennedy, Clarence Clemons and Pez - sold for more than $275,000 in Lelands.com December auction. In all, the first day of the auction generated $1 million in sales.
