eBay is accepting nominations for its Star Developer awards, presented each year at its developers conference immediately preceding the eBay Live community conference. Companies and individual developers can nominate themselves or colleagues for best "Innovative Application" and "Service to the Developer Community" before the deadline of May 1.
The Service to the Developer Community award will go to the developer who best represents the needs of the greater developer community, participates in community boards and communications, reports bug and other issues, and works hand-in-hand with eBay to improve site ease-of-use. The Innovative Application award will go to a certified application that shows innovative use of the eBay Platform, reflects progressive use of technology, is easy to use, and improves the efficiency of eBay business.
The awards will be presented during this year's eBay Developers Conference, taking place June 10-12 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Keynotes at the conference include Pierre Omidyar, founder and Chairman of the Board of eBay; Scott Cook, founder of Intuit and eBay Board Director since 1998; and Chris Anderson, Editor-in-Chief of Wired magazine (http://ebaydevcon.com/programnews/tracks/keynotes). Sessions at the conference include a panel of venture capitalists; the future of digital money from PayPal, and developing, certifying, and deploying Skype applications. The cost of attending the conference is $295 before April 16.
eBay is also holding a Developer Day in Germany in conjunction with the eBay Live conference in Dusseldorf on May 26-27, 2006 (http://ebaydeveloper.typepad.com/dev/2006/04/german_develope.html).
