eBay Organizes Florida Sellers to Lobby Politicians

eBay is hosting a "Main Street Meeting" in Tallahassee, Florida on Thursday to lobby politicians in the state. According to eBay's website, the Main Street Meeting Program was designed to bring leaders from the eBay seller community together with eBay Government Relations professionals to discuss efforts to protect eBay businesses from negative government interference and taxation. "We believe that by acting together we can educate our elected officials and turn the tide on these potentially costly and dangerous proposals so that the eBay seller community will continue to operate under the most favorable circumstances in the online retail marketplace."

eBay's Main Street Meeting program informs sellers of national and state "threats to ecommerce." eBay then escorts sellers to their state capitol to speak directly with legislators about those issues.

eBay sellers face regulation from a number of states. One battleground is Louisiana where things have heated up this month (http://auctionbytes.com/cab/abu/y206/m04/abu0165/s05).
