Kaboodle, a free online service that simplifies collecting, organizing and sharing information on the
web, today announced an agreement with eBay to provide MyCollectibles, a new destination geared toward making it easier for collectors to showcase, discover and connect with others who share similar collecting interests. Kaboodle is providing an online home for showcasing entire
collections, and easily sharing and collaborating with like-minded collectors of everything from comics and sports memorabilia to pop culture icons and autographs.
MyCollectibles is available now at http://www.ebay.com/mycollectibles and
through Kaboodle at http://mycollectibles.kaboodle.com. Kaboodle and eBay will be demonstrating MyCollectibles during eBay Live! 2006, the annual eBay
community gathering being held June 13-15 in Las Vegas.
"We're thrilled to be working with eBay to bring Web 2.0 technology to the world's collectors so they can easily organize and share their treasured collectibles," said Manish Chandra, founder and CEO of Kaboodle. "By enabling collectors to combine items purchased on eBay with photos of their favorite collectibles currently sitting on display
shelves or in their attics, we're bridging the gap between online and offline collections and building a broader, more diverse online community for collectors."
Kaboodle will enable collectors to rate collections, discuss and share experiences, import their purchases from eBay for virtual storage in MyCollectibles and easily find similar items for sale on eBay.
MyCollectibles extends the one-click simplicity of Kaboodle to collectors by allowing them to take their eBay items and instantly upload them into one Kaboodle page with a single click. Kaboodle's powerful information extraction engine automatically summarizes relevant
information from any web page, allowing users to add content from across the web to their collection pages.
"With over 10,000 items selling in our collectibles categories every hour on eBay, our Collectibles community is one of the most active and passionate on the Internet," said Laurence Toney, director of the eBay Collectibles Categories. "Kaboodle has enabled us to bring
sophisticated technology into a very consumer-oriented forum that helps the eBay community more easily connect with others who share collecting interests."
For the first time, Kaboodle users can chose to upload as many as four photos of an individual item onto a Kaboodle page to build an even more extensive set of collections on the web. Once they create a Kaboodle page, collectors can compare their collections with others to find missing items as well as gather comments and votes from other
collectors.
Launched in November 2005, Kaboodle combines its powerful technology with an active user community to simplify the process of collecting, organizing and sharing information on the web. Unlike other information collection services, Kaboodle enables users to compare and recommend products and services and helps users not only find new and interesting items from the community but also get information in order to make better online decisions.
