It's like "deja vu all over again." Rumors of Google's forthcoming payment service dominated discussions at last year's eBay user conference. As the fifth eBay Live kicks off today (June 13th), media outlets are abuzz about Gbuy, the code-name for Google's online-payment service rumored to be taking on eBay's PayPal payment service (http://news.zdnet.com/2100-9588_22-6082746.html).

ZDnet quoted an analyst from RBC Capital Markets, who says Google will launch the service on June 28th. The walls of the convention center in Las Vegas will no doubt reverberate this year with talk of Gbuy and what it might mean for eBay sellers, buyers and PayPal. eBay recently allied itself with Yahoo, who will use PayPal as its payment service across its online properties in the U.S.

eBay CEO Meg Whitman will give the keynote address at eBay Live this evening along with North American President Bill Cobb. They are expected to make several significant announcements, including one about Skype integration in certain categories on eBay.com.
