eBay Canada is changing the way listings are displayed on search results pages. It will begin including Canadian listings exclusively at the top of all search results for searches conducted off the homepage. The announcement, posted on Tuesday, explained that eBay "heard from many users that they prefer the convenience of faster shipping when buying from Canadians sellers." Based on the results of the change, eBay may extend the change to other areas of the site.
Meanwhile, some eBay sellers in the UK have been complaining about this very issue. International listings appear interspersed with domestic listings, and, according to some sellers, this has led to reduced sell-through rates for UK sellers and a frustrating shopping experience for buyers. One seller wrote, "international items have increased the amount of auctions in the categories and buyers cannot find what they are looking for and just give up." Some sellers also complain that giving the same exposure to China-based sellers as UK-based sellers is unfair, since eBay sellers in China pay no fees (http://forums.ebay.co.uk/thread.jspa?threadID=200332682).
