Quick question, received order, (not ebay) package 9 x 12 x 18 shipped USPS 03/16/2009 from NJ - Fla. As of now 3/7 package hasn't arrived.
Customer is a really low class wise guy, any way says he went to post office they say after 30 days package officially lost. ?????
This isn't a bubble envelope.

Anyway he's going to put claim in to credit card co. (was paid through paypal). Am I responsible for a package lost by the USPS?

Only a $30.00 sale, but his guy has been a problenm from day one, he may have even gotten the package. Wants a different item I have to replace the lost items.

Just wondering your opinons.

See ya, Country Joe

Hi, CountryJoe!

Unfortunately, if you accept credit cards (even through a third party vendor like PP), the seller is liable. That doesn't mean that you're out the money, however.

If you shipped according to PP terms and the seller protection, you should be OK.

I should mention though... 30 days is pretty much the standard for declaring a domestic parcel *lost*, and we've had some media mail parcels that took over 40 days even.

Did you use any delivery confirmation services? That's our first line of defense and for what it's worth, absolutely every parcel we ship is insured - no exceptions.

Good Luck!

P.S. - you aren't obligated to send a different item... matter of fact I would outright refuse to do so, as that just adds another variable to a transaction that may be doomed from the get go.

Hi, generally I would make good on a lost package or damaged item one way or the other. Actually only had two really get lost one to New Guinea (7 years ago) and one to Tenn. Both taken care of no problem.

This guy just rubbed me wrong right from the get go. Was an IOFFER sale that started

"I'll give you ....." then after a few days emails started, where's my stuff, what did you send it by a mule, why don't you have a tracking number, I ordered something else somewhere else and got it already, Yo bro, I ain't got my stuff yet.

I didn't know I had to assume my items would never show up, or that people selling items can't spend the extra 50 cents or $1 dollar to get a tracking number, and avoid problems, your selling items and your making money I have to watch dog on how you ship it to get my item,

No cans !! BRO ! on day 30 I call my credit card company maybe next time you ship even a $2 dollar item you'll get tracking # so you won't have to deal with Attitude !! sounds like a good idea HUH ?

Where's the unibomber when you need him
Se ya, Country Joe

Joe
On day 30 HE can file a Lost Package report with the post office.
We have shipped over 24,000 items and only had 2 that were actually lost. Get the paper work from the post office. Fill it out and send it to him with copies of the invoice, insurance form (if you have it) and your shipping receipt.
I find the shipping receipt with the date and zip code works fine for the post office as proof of mailing.
I've had packages show up 3 months later, got lost behind a machine or something.
He sounds like a real dip Sh##.
If he decides to do a charge back, i've found there really is nothing you
can do. I've had 2 charge backs. I had emails from one customers thanking me for the wonderful jewelry. She then decided to return it. Did a charge back. Never returned the merchandise and the credit card company pretty much told me 'TO BAD'. The CC's have no interest in sellers, only their CC holders.
good luck Karen
