Hello all, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with, as well as advice on what to do about counterfeit videos on eBay... I am a reseller, as well as a collector of VHS videos (mostly classics). I recently decided to try buying VHS videos from other users on eBay both for resale in the near future, and for my own personal collection I have. I was infuriated to discover that when 99% of these videos finally arrived to my home, they were obvious fakes. I was actually fooled by several of them from one seller until my husband looked at them and pointed out that they were in fact counterfeit, they were just very high quality counterfeits. So far, I have spent over $600 on classic video titles, and I have received 3 videos that I am positive are genuine - the rest are fakes. One of the sellers I was buying numerous videos from inexplicably canceled all of my bids and then blocked me from bidding on anything else from him. This happened after I had already bought numerous videos from him, and paid for them. Now I can't get a response out of him at all, and of course no refund. The odd thing is that he has 100% positive feedback and over 200 feedbacks, so I can't imagine why he is doing this...
What I would like to know, is there something I should do to report all of these sellers that are selling obvious fakes? After contacting several of them, I have managed to get my money back (including shipping) from them and without having to return the fake videos. But, it makes me really angry that I am out here working very hard to run an honest business, and there seems to be so many of these people selling these fakes like this. I mean they seem to be going thru alot of trouble to make these things - some of the labels and the cover work are made by copying the original on what appears to be very high quality, glossy paper (in color), but they use tapes that were obviously T-120 type (like the blank video tapes you buy from any store).
I also would like to know if anyone has had any experience on a site called ioffer.com??? I have found someone there that is selling large volumes of VHS videos, and they claim to be a distributor, but in light of all these fakes I found on eBay, I'm a little leery now about buying videos in large quantities, so I was wondering if anyone has bought things on ioffer before, and if so, what kind of experience did you have?
Thanks, peaNUT _________________ peaNUT |
